¡Hola! My name is Raquel and I am a native Spanish speaker. I was born in Valencia, Spain, where I grew up speaking Catalan and Spanish. I have a Bachelor's degree in History and Archaeology from Universidad de Valencia and I studied for a year in Università degli Studi di Pisa. Learning languages and History and visiting archaeological sites are favorites things to do.

I worked as a private language teacher and History tutor in Valencia for five years before relocating to the USA in 2011. During this time I found my vocation – developing the special skills needed to teach foreign languages efficiently to students under my instruction. I’ve studied English, and Italian extensively, speaking and writing fluently in each and I’ve learned first-hand that mastering new languages opens the door for exciting business and personal opportunities!

I am patient and have a flexible schedule. I enjoy teaching all levels and ages and my goal is that you learn to understand and speak Spanish fluently and naturally.

Teaching locations: Bay Park, Mission Bay, Mission Beach, Mission Hills, Ocean Beach, Point Loma, San Diego downtown.

Hello! My name is Gabriel and I'm a native Spanish speaker from Venezuela. I have a BS in Anthropology, which I studied in my native country. After that, I lived in Spain for 6 years. While there I got an MA degree in Human Resources Management and worked in that field. In 2011, I moved to North County San Diego and I have been teaching Spanish.

Living, studying and working in two Spanish speaking countries, meeting many native speakers from other Latin American countries, and being married to a woman who has Mexican origin, have expanded my knowledge of the use of Spanish language.

I enjoy teaching and discussing in depth to resolve doubts. I'm patient and flexible!  I'm interested in my fields of study,  world politics and economics, and general conversation.

Teaching locations: Office in Carlsbad for one-to-one & Immersion Group Classes, Oceanside and also Mission Valley's office for Intensive Classes.

Oi! My name is Barbara and I am a native Portuguese speaker. I was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil and came to the United States 6 years ago. Before earning my Bachelor's degree in law at UniRitter University in Canoas, Brazil, I studied Portuguese for one year at Unisinos University.

For the past 5 years I have been tutoring children, I am patient and enthusiastic. I really enjoy helping both children and adults to learn Portuguese. My private lessons are based in developing the student's conversational skills and use of proper Portuguese by using reading, writing and grammar for beginners and advanced students.

According to estimates by Unesco, Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese are the fastest growing languages in the world after English. I like to encourage people to learn a new language; I think it is important and fun. So come to The Spanish Institute to learn another language while having a good time with us!
